O.K. is a long time Oregon resident moving to his mother’s family farm in Pine Creek Township at the age of ten. O.K. worked many years as both a mechanical and architectural draftsman. He then owned and

operated a “Handyman Service” in the Oregon/Byron area before purchasing Rock River Outfitters in July of 2007.

O. K.’s father owned a tackle shop in Dixon back in the 1930’s. He grew up developing a love for hunting, fishing and trapping at a young age. O.K. and his brother Bill received two shot guns to share for Christmas present the year O.K. was 14.

His favorite fish to go after in the Rock is catfish but has enjoyed fishing for many other species on trips to WI, MO and Canada. The largest catfish he has taken to date was 36 lbs and 36” long. A daily shore lunch of walleye in Canada with his brothers is one of his fondest memories.

Whitetail deer hunting is always at the top of his list in the fall and winter. O.K. says his dream hunt would be for grizzly bear.

Trap shooting at the Byron/Oregon Sportsman’s Club is another favorite pastime. Rock River Outfitters, Inc sponsors two teams for the league shooting.

When asked if he could own any make or model of gun no matter the cost his answer was a firearm owned and used by Buffalo Bill Cody. The favorite gun in his safe at the moment is a Ruger Red Label 28 Gauge shotgun.

O.K. also collects Remington model cars as well as pocket and hunting knives.
